Yes he is! No longer in the OC area, unfortunately, I heard he lives between CA and the West Indies and is well known for his art, particularly the scrimshaw knives. There is another entry on this blog which gives a little more detail, search for 'Smuggler' and you should find it.
My grandfather had a copy of the above art in his home and I am desperately trying to find a copy to purchase. Unfortunately my grandfather is no longer living and his copy was sold or given away many years ago. I am hoping to purchase a copy to place in my home (in a nursery for my son who is due in May).
